Heyo Kaleo

Well this post has been long put off since I was accepted at Kaleo many many months ago. Well My name is Tom Bietz and I am from the wonderful city of Winnipeg Manitoba (I use the word wonderful very lightly). I'm extremly pumped to be going to Kaleo, God has called me to pursue him and so off to Kaleo I go. Now the main reason for this blog is that i was wondering whether anyone is driving out to BC who might be passing through Winnipeg. I am flying out and I'm not sure how many guitars, snowboards,..etc there gunna let me take. So if anyone is driving through Winnipeg and may have extra room in there vehicle to take a guitar or something, it would be greatly appriciated.

Haha, today at staff meeting at camp jen asked me how many days were left, so I thought I'd share it with the blog.

I recently found out that the government would not be giving me any help in coming to Kaleo. This means that I am a few thousand dollars short, and so I would appreciate everyones prayer support. I know there are a few other students out there who are also needing some help so pray for all of us.
In other news, life goes on. It seems like nothing exciting will happen before Kaleo, nothing to distract me from the wait. It has been sweet getting to know a few of you, if only electronically, so everyone should post more on here. That way we have an idea of who we will be spending eight months with!
Will anybody have a car while at Kaleo? Does anybody enjoy camping in complete wilderness? Are you bringing a bicycle/skateboard/rollerblades? Are there any joggers among us?

Jim introduced me on the blog a while ago, but someone pointed out to me that no one has posted in 3 or some odd weeks, and that I haven't posted anything.

My name is Jen and I am one of the kaleo interns! I have been working here, at camp qwanoes, since the beginning of advanced crew (which started at the end of april). My job has been helping Jim and two other CIT counselors run the CIT program. For those unfamiliar with qwanoes, our counselor-in-training program is spread over 4 weeks. The first 2 weeks are significant in the spiritual growth of the students and teaching them practical counseling skills. The third week they are in the cabin counseling and their fourth week is Operation Support Crew, which basically means a week of dishes. So far, I have seen so much growth in the lives of the students! This week has been really encouraging seeing them engage with campers and put into practice all that they learned in the first two weeks!
