Taiwan Kid

Hey -all you people that I don't know....YET!:)

so...
I wanted to come to Kaleo because 1) I would like some direction in my life 2) I need a strong base with God and 3) there are so many activities I LOVE IT!

I may be wrong (who knows) but I'm assuming I'm the furthest away. I live in Taipei, Taiwan (beside china), and have been here for my whole highschool (5 years now). I don't know Mandarin (still taking french)....and its so crazy to be a minority over here! Yeah...for those of you that have been in Asia its a pretty crazy cultural experience.

About me:
-I love sports (mostly soccer and rugby and watchin hockey)
-love music...ANYTHING but country!sorry.
-I'm pretty handy...I like to fix things and create things in woodshop.
-and I'm a really happy person
-i cant spell to save my life
-oh and considering I live away from Canada...I am pretty patriotic

alright well it's spring break for me now, so Im gonna go chill.

See you all sooner then later

hello from hawaii!

Amelia Worsley here, writting to you from her spring break vacation in beautiful Hawaii!

Hmm. Where to start?

Well, my name is Amelia. I'm seventeen and have been going to Camp Qwanoes for 9 years now. This year will be my tenth. I was a camper since I was 8, and I have been a staff member the past two summers, doing the Counsellor-In-Training Program, and the Leader-In-Training program. I’d say that camp is my home-away-from-home. In fact, it was through Camp Qwanoes that I found Christ, and it has played a continual role in the growth of my faith. Kaleo just seems like the perfect next step! I’ve watched other Kaleo’s grow close-knit like a family, and I can’t wait to be apart of that.

I’d say I’m a pretty outgoing person, who loves poetry, bright colors and music. I doodle when I’m bored, and I’ve always wanted to own a pet goat. I might just try and smuggle one into camp! (Shh.. don’t tell Jim!)

Can’t wait to meet you all!
Blessings,
<3A.

p.s. add me on facebook if I haven’t already added you!

"Awesome Title Here"

Hey e'rebody,
my names Jeremiah, and I just got accepted for K6. Ill start with a little background info:
I have always had God on my mind in one form or another, I just never knew exactly how to classify or identify Him until around highschool, which is when I started reading the Bible. Since then its been a slow uphill journey, and I've loved every second of it! The Lord has truly provided me with some excellent teachers and some ears to hear them with.
That about sums up the past, onto the future; who's gonna live with me come September??
Im into music, reading, climbing trees, and gaming (although I doubt ill have much time for gaming at Qwanoes!). For music im pretty open: folk, indie, jazz, blues, rock and/or roll, metal. Any of you guys with similar tastes feel like producing a little one room four bed atmosphere of rocking out and worshipping? Eh? Ehhh?
Okay, enough awkward introductions, my msn addy is pheonix99@hotmail.com, add me up and introduce yourselves and we can be friends before we even meet at Kaleo, yeah?
God Bless you all, I cant wait for September!

Hello Kaleo 6!

Hey Everyone!

that I'm so excited to be going to Kaleo since I've always wanted to go since I first heard about it 4 years ago at camp. So I'll give you guys a bit of background info on why I chose Kaleo. I've been attending Camp Qwanoes as a camp for 6 years and as a staff member for 2 years and over the last couple of years at camp I've been growing as a Christian and as a leader. Before camp last summer I had to make a choice between being an LIT (leader in training) at Qwanoes or to continue on with my competitive swimming. After about 6 months of prayer about what to do I felt a calling towards Qwanoes and I was so amazed at what God did in my life that summer. Kaleo is the next step of leadership in Christian Ministry and for me to achieve the life I want as a youth minister I believe Kaleo is an amazing first step. Can't wait to see all of you in September!

SO Stoked!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Everybody! I saw no one has posted a picture yet besides JimBad, so I thought I'd be the first.
So a little background on my relationship with Camp Qwanoes. Qwanoes is like my home. I have been a camper there for 7 years, and this will be my 4th summer on staff. I have also spent a crazy but amazing year there working in the kitchen and watching the Kaleo 4's grow. After watching them I was determined to do Kaleo 5, but God had other plans. Due to that, I was not able to get a student loan so I had no way of paying for it. So I gave up that idea and instead got a full time job at Subway. I started working thinking that I'd have 2 days off a week and have an easy working year. Hahaha that was a joke. God took me back to camp for a weekend to volunteer and I was in Kaleo 5's prayer room looking around. Right then and there I was like, "I'm doing Kaleo 6". God started shovling in the money and making everything fit into place, and now after a long hard year of working and saving like crazy, I dont even need a loan. All I needed was an acceptance phone call. Now that I have that, I am ten times more excited!!!
